Liam Mooney is one of South Africa’s most celebrated interior designers — a practitioner whose work is equally at home in a private Cape Winelands residence, a luxury safari lodge in Botswana, or a pied-à-terre in New York. Founded in Cape Town and operating across the globe, the studio has spent nearly two decades creating spaces that feel less like designed rooms and more like fully inhabited lives.

The studio works across high-end residential and hospitality projects, with completed commissions in New York, the Okavango Delta, Switzerland, and throughout South Africa. Each project begins the same way — with listening. The studio exists, first and foremost, to understand its clients: their rhythms, their histories, their idea of joy. What follows is a space that could only ever belong to them.

The result is interiors that are layered and considered — rooted in honest comfort, bold colour, and the kind of warmth that only comes from things being genuinely loved. The style that emerges is never trend-driven, but human-oriented: spaces that evolve with the people who live in them, reflecting character rather than the current season.

The studio offers interior architecture, interior design, decorating, and styling, supported by Valentim — the studio’s in-house furniture and bespoke design division. Work from the practice has been featured in Wallpaper, Monocle, Domus, House and Garden, Visi, and House & Leisure, and Liam has been named Lighting Designer of the Year by Elle Decoration SA.
